The House of Eve (2023), a redemptive and powerful novel set in 1950’s Philadelphia and Washington, DC, that navigates what it means to be a woman, a mother, and what must be sacrificed in the name of achieving a goal, is “a powerful witnessing, and a remarkable addition to Johnson’s already stunning bibliography” (Robert Jones, Jr.) and “A triumph of historical fiction” (Washington Post).
