Each year, kids across Virginia vote for their favorite nominee to win the Virginia Readers’ Choice (VRC) Award. This year, JMRL is focusing on the Primary category featuring ten new picture books! View the titles in JMRL’s Find It Catalog or in Libby. From these lists, you can click on each book to see its description and place holds. 

Youth JMRL patrons can cast their vote at any JMRL branch from March 1 to April 30, 2026. In order to vote, you must have read or listened to at least four of the books. After you vote, enter the raffle for a chance to win a copy of your favorite VRC nominee!

During March and April, each JMRL branch will have “in-house” copies of all ten books available to read while you visit the library.  JMRL branches are also hosting programs featuring VRC nominated books, including special read-alouds, storytimes, book clubs, and more.
