On Saturday, February 7, 2026, JMRL will celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day. Now in its 15th year, this annual event is a wonderful opportunity for kids and their families to enjoy the library and learn about all of the free resources public libraries provide to the community. JMRL helps families build solid foundations of literacy and love of learning by providing access to books, early literacy storytimes, technology, homework help, online resources, and more. Visit any branch to collect a special Take Your Child to the Library sticker!
At Central Library, join in at Saturday Storytime or drop by to design your own book cover.
Complete a scavenger hunt, craft a crown, or read aloud to Penny, one of JMRL’s Paws to Read dogs at Crozet Library.
At Gordon Avenue Library, attend a special storytime, participate in Take Your Stuffie to the Library, or drop in to try your hand at the scavenger hunt or make & take crown craft.
Can you complete the Storybook Character scavenger hunt at Greene County Library? Try the Library Skills scavenger hunt, too!
Check out a book and collect your special Take Your Child to the Library sticker at Louisa County Library!
At Nelson Memorial Library, get a JMRL library card if you don’t have one already and try out the branch scavenger hunt. The Hooked on Books book group is meeting, too – find out more about all JMRL book groups!
At Northside Library, join in the fun with two special programs: the National Social Studies Honors Society from Albemarle High School will lead some hands-on fun, and author Brittany Saulnie will read from her book Rules to a Legacy, answer questions, and lead two craft activities.
Stop by Scottsville Library’s Valentine and Piano Music Craft Fair to share what you love about the library! Decorate and hang up special hearts all around the library to show your library love.
