Each year, kids across Virginia vote for their favorite nominee to win the Virginia Readers’ Choice (VRC) Award. There are three reading categories, Primary, Elementary, and Middle School, with ten nominated titles in each category. See the booklists in JMRL’s FindIt catalog here:
From these lists, you can click on each book to see its description and place holds.
Youth JMRL patrons can cast their vote at any JMRL branch from March 1 to April 30, 2025. Kids can vote for their favorite title from each of the three categories, if they so choose. In order to vote, you must have read or listened to at least four of the books in a category, and you can only vote once per category.
JMRL has added additional copies of all of the VRC nominated titles to the collection so that there are more opportunities for patrons to read at least four titles and cast their vote. JMRL branches are also hosting programs featuring VRC nominated books, including special read-alouds, storytimes, book clubs, and more. Participants may receive free copies of the VRC books at these special events, while supplies last.
