Take Your Child to the Library Day 2025

On Saturday, February 1, 2025, JMRL will celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day. Now in its 14th year, this annual event is a wonderful opportunity for kids and their families to enjoy the library and learn about all of the free resources public libraries provide to the community. JMRL helps families build solid foundations of literacy and love of learning by providing access to books, early literacy storytimes, technology, homework help, online resources, and more.

Visit Greene County Library for a library-themed storytime at 3pm, and participate in a variety of fun activities, including the Guess How Many LEGOs contest, a stuffed animal storybook scavenger hunt, and a self-led book journaling craft. Don’t forget to check out a library-themed book bundle on your way out!

At Crozet Library, complete the “Going on a Book Hunt” scavenger hunt for book characters and grab a hexagon snowflake take-and-make craft.

Visit Gordon Avenue Library for a library-themed storytime at 11am, and try your hand at the “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” Scavenger Hunt. Don’t miss the Name Contest for the library’s new furry friend, and color an animal friend bookmark.

At Scottsville Library, leave the library some love at the “Share What You Love About the Library” Station, and complete the Love Scavenger Hunt!

Nelson Memorial Library will have library-themed book bundles for checkout, as well as a scavenger hunt, and take-and-make craft.

Drop in to Central Library at 10am for a library-themed storytime and to complete a scavenger hunt.

You can also try your hand at scavenger hunts at Louisa County Library and Northside Library
